Brittle Wax (Brittlewax) Bush Snap Garden Bean
Brittle Wax (Brittlewax) Currently unavailable, we suggest Golden Wax Improved and Resistant Cherokee Wax as alternatives. 55 days — The plants reach fourteen to sixteen inches in height and are erect at first but more drooping and spreading as the pods mature. They are vigorous and moderately productive and produce over a longer period than most bush-type varieties. The pods are six inches long, pale green ripening to a light golden-yellow color, stringless, fleshy, fiberless, with fine texture and as its name implies, brittle. The seeds are white with black eyes. It is an excellent choice for home gardens, market growers, and canning. 'Brittle Wax' is the result of a stabilized cross between 'Black-eyed Wax' with 'Round-pod Refugee'. It was originally introduced in 1901 by Johnson & Stokes and the following year, the name was changed to 'Brittle Wax'. Each packet contains one ounce, which is approximately 120 seeds.
