Golden Self-Blanching - Back in stock! Apium graveolens var. dulce 90 days — 'Golden Self-Blanching' is a very old standard variety whose synonyms include 'Dwarf Golden Self-Blanching' and 'Burpee's Golden Self-Blanching'. The plants are stocky, solid, thick, with stalks that, as its name implies, blanch easily. It is vigorous growing with upright medium green foliage. The roots are round, smooth, and have good inner quality with high yields. It was introduced as 'Golden Self-Blanching' by the now-defunct Johnson & Stokes Seed Company in 1883. In their 1890 catalog, they described it as, "Unlike other self-blanching varieties, it is a good keeper. The stocks grow vigorously, with large ribs, very thickly and closely set. It is entirely self-blanching, without any banking up or covering whatever, even the outer ribs assuming a yellowish-white color of a very fresh and pleasing appearance." Each packet contains 0.25 gram, which is approximately 200 seeds.
