Purple Podded Pole Bean 70 days -  Also known as "Purple Peacock," Purple Podded Pole Bean is an heirloom discovered in the 1930s by Henry Field in the Ozark mountains and has remained a favorite among gardeners of the region. Once it starts producing, this vigorous vine produces a continuous harvest of flat, dark purple pods, measuring 5 to 7 inches in length and about 1/2 inch thick. The pods are tender, meaty, and stringless. Vines grow up to 6 feet tall and are adorned with lilac-colored blossoms, adding to the visual appeal of the plant. Its purple pods are easy to spot amidst the foliage. The beans can be enjoyed raw when young or cooked in various dishes. Each ounce is approximately 70 seeds.
