Kenya Gititu Peaberry - Fully Washed - Wholesale
We Taste - White peach, blood orange, berry punch Big, sweet, and bright, SL-28 varietal coffees from Kenya are among our favorites. Although very clean from being well sorted and fully washed, Gititu Coffee Factory's two long soaks add a sweetly fermented character while maintaining the famous effervescence that comes in part from phosphorous in the red clay soil. Just north of the capital Nairobi, urbanizing Kiambu County is one of the growing regions that excites us most. From the region's eldest coffee cooperative, Gititu Farmers Cooperative Society, comes a special microlot separation of the 1,000 smallholder member's Peaberry sorted selection. Peaberries are the smallest screen size of Kenya's three grades. These mutations develop as an "only child" seed in the berry, rather than the usual "twins".
