The original lineup consisted of Siouxsie Sioux (vocals), Steven Severin (bass), Marco Pirroni (guitar), and Sid Vicious (drums). Vicious was later replaced by Budgie. Siouxsie Sioux, born Susan Janet Ballion, was the focal point of the band with her distinctive voice and unique stage presence. The Banshees gained attention for their avant-garde and theatrical performances. Their music was characterized by atmospheric soundscapes, Siouxsie's haunting vocals, and a blend of punk, post-punk, and gothic influences.
