Drop City Salvage
Drop City Salvage, the first full-band studio album by NYC songwriter Garrett Devoe, was recorded in collaboration with Truth & Soul founder, Jeffery Silverman (Lee Fields) at his Red Hook Studio, Future Sounds. The core band of Parker Kindred (Cass McCombs, Joan As Policewoman), Josh Werner (Coco Rosie, Tall Juan) & Shahzad Ismaily (Fiest, Beth Orton), is further decked up with pedal steel & woodwinds by Dan Iead & Stuart Bogie respectively. The culmination of this collaborative effort speaks to classic mid-70’s songwriter records, with steel string and rhythm sections propelling the songs in symbiotic vibrations, conjuring sonic similarities to “Darkness on the Edge of Town,” “Coney Island Baby,” and records by Gene Clark, J J Cale, Neil Young & Mickey Newberry. The album title itself is a nod to the late 60’s commune, Drop City and thematically reflects the rift between those communal dreams of ecological symbiosis, societal compassion and non-capitalistic econom
