Khan Jamal’s Infinity features a stellar, percussion-rich sextet with altoist Byard Lancaster, harmonica player Clifton Burton, and legendary free drummer Sunny Murray. The album includes four Jamal originals and Bernard Sammul’s fiery "The Angry Young Man." Comparable to classic Blue Note, Prestige, or Impulse releases, Infinity is a standout session. Its track "The Known Unknown" became an underground favorite during the Acid Jazz heyday of the 1990s, yet the entire album remains an undiscovered gem.
