The icon depicts Christ addressing the Virgin Mary, holding a scroll in His left hand, and offering a blessing with two fingers pressed together. The reverse side of the piece is dedicated to the twelfth feast of the Assumption of the Virgin – one of the 12 Great Feasts – where the image of the feast is reproduced according to ancient iconography.
