Alien (1979)

As the Nostromo silently glides home from the outer reaches of the galaxy, its seven crew members are jarred awake by the computer's response to an urgently-repeating transmission of unknown origin.  Contractually obligated to investigate any sign of intelligent life, the crew sets down on an unknown planet with a hostile and unbreathable atmosphere.  Three crew members venture out to investigate the call for help, where they discover a derelict alien craft, its hold filled with leathery, egg-like objects.  Back aboard the Nostromo, the remaining crew deciphers the transmission and discovers too late that it was not a distress signal at all...it was a warning.
