Superfluous Dessert Dish

In Europe, ‘tis a Fruit Dish, for the cheese course, or simply for a fresh piece of fruit with a fruit knife & napkin tucked in under the chin. However, in America . . . the perfect size for a slice of apple pie, à la mode (crème fraîche, sharp Cheddar, or ice cream) . . . as is the fashion!
