A watercolor rainbow beams over sparkling shamrock clover. The plant used here is wood sorrel, also called lemon clover or shamrock clover. Shamrocks are any trefoil (three leaved) clover plant, and of course they are the beloved symbol of Ireland. Here I used wood sorrel to create this shamrock-themed piece. Although often considered a weed in lawns, wood sorrel is a favorite of bees, butterflies, and wild bunnies. I love the imprints of of this clover and the shape of the delicate heart-shaped leaves. This jewelry dish is made from smooth porcelain-like stoneware clay, dried, bisque fired, glazed, and high-fired once more at approximately 2200 degrees Fahrenheit. The ceramic dish is imprinted with real leaves from garden. The piece is handpainted with stains and underglazes, then glazed and fired in the kiln.
