  The origins of Chateau Lafon-Rochet go back to the sixteenth century. In 1650, the heiress of the estate, Antoinette de Guillemotes, married Etienne Lafon, Advisor to the Parliament of Bordeaux. He received the vineyard as a dowry, which then becomes the Lafon-Rochet estate. The Lafon family ran Château Lafon-Rochet for over two centuries, even during the French Revolution, and enabled the estate to access the rank of 4th Grand Cru in 1855. After the death of Ms. Lafon De Camensac in 1880, Chateau Lafon-Rochet experienced a succession of owners (the Audon family, the family Duquenoy-Legry family...), which will not have a good impact on the vineyard. When Guy Tesseron bought the Chateau Lafon-Rochet in 1959, it was indeed in poor condition. Guy Tesseron then undertook extensive renovation work: he rehabilitated the vines, destroyed the old house and built an eighteenth century charteuse style one, thereby restoring the property’s former glory.
