Benjamin Leroux Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2016

Leroux‚ Corton-Charlemagne comes from a tiny 0.12-hectares plot in En Charlemagne on the Pernand side of the hill. Two barrels out of four were new. The 2016 Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru was sporting a small reduction on the nose though there is plenty of fruit underneath. The palate is quite powerful and voluminous, waxy in texture with a touch of orange rind on the slightly short finish. Size: 0.20 ha (0.49 ac) Variety: Chardonnay Vine Age: Planted around 1980 Terroir: En Charlemagne, south/southeast-facing, high limestone content in soil, late-ripening Viticulture: Lutte raisonnée Vinification: Whole-cluster pressing, light settling if necessary, indigenous yeast fermentation. Aged for 18 months in barrel (33% new oak), fined or filtered if necessary.
