It was awarded an First Class Certificate by the Royal Horticultural Society in 1938. This is perhaps the most iconic red cattleya of all time. It is one of the most hybridized cattleya hybrids with over 300 first generation offspring.  This plant has always been very difficult to find, but even more so as a clean plant. Most older examples had CymMV.
