Seeking Refuge

I took this photo in 2016. I had traveled from my home in Minnesota to Kodiak Alaska by way of Anchorage. With a layover in Kodiak I was to fly out in the early morning to a remote island to photograph Kodiak bears for a week. As it so happened when I woke the next morning Kodiak was totally fogged in cancelling all travel for the day. At first I was quite upset at the prospect of loosing a precious day with these magnificent animals. However, the upset was quite short lived as I tried to figure out the best way to use my day of isolation. Of course, what else to do but grab my camera and take a walk looking for something to photograph in the dense fog! As I came to the outskirts of town I reached the harbor packed with all these fishing boats seeking refuge from the fog and the storm that brought it there. It’s a magical image and could represent any harbor in the world. Also a good lesson. There are no bad days, just bad attitudes!
