The remote control is Velcro under the fairing with the switches and LEDs panel mounted to some place covenant to be reached. The remote control is powered by a switched source like the running lights. The reason it comes with two battery harnesses is so you use one with the power from the battery to the receiver in your heated gear. The other one is to use to power the Remote control. You can cut it down to the size you need since you will be running off a switched power source like the running lights. That way you do not need a relay or a fuse for it. the Remote control only uses a few milli-amps to run the radio. Another advantage to this setup is that if you need to remove the fairing to work on the bike, the power for the remote just unplugs and the fairing can move away from the bike.
