This is a new made replacement gas system plug for the M1 Garand. It is noticeably different in that it has only one slot like a flat head rather than two like a Phillips. Even if you do have what you believe to be an all war time M1 you probably still have a postwar gas plug as nearly every rifle was updated with the Phillips style plug. This is a quality made part to original drawings, and specifications. Made from Correct 400 series stainless steel. Heat treated, tempered, and hot process black oxide surface finish.
