Katalox Light

Katalox Light® is a  revolutionary filtration media used for the removal of iron, hydrogen sulfide, manganese and sediment down to 3-5 microns.  Katalox-Light® is based on Zeosorb® (a high purity natural Aluminosilicate microcrystalline mineral)  and then coated with MnO2 that can filter particles as small as 3 microns.  The Katalox Light® granules have an angular shape,and rough, micro-porous surface to provide efficient reduction of dirt, silt and suspended solids. Katalox-Light® features less pressure loss, higher service and flow rates and bed loadings combined with lower back wash frequency when compared to other manganese-dioxide based media such as Pyrolox or Filox.  Unlike Manganese Greensand and Greensand Plus, Katalox-Light® needs no potassium permanganate (KMnO4) or chlorine regenerants. Katalox-Light® filters can be operated at the flow rate of 12 gmp/sq. ft (30 m/h) with a single pressure vessel with and it requires only 5 - 10 minutes backwash time with the flow rate
