PatPat Reggae was written for a beginner-level steelband, with attention given to incorporating features ideal for classroom teaching. The introduction showcases the bass-line in full band unison. At Letter A, the melody is introduced in the Lead and Double Tenors over that original bass line and simple chords. Letter B flips the roles, giving the melody to the Double Seconds and Guitar Pans, while the Lead and Double Tenors support with chords. Letter C marks the high point of the piece, featuring a strong drumset groove and a more intense melody. Finallly, The Coda introduces a classic pan-bass rhythm and allows the melody to shine with a new twist for an energetic finish.
