Viking "Helm of Awe" Symbol Shield - Icelandic Protection Rune Shield
This shield bears the symbol commonly known as "Aegishjalmr" or Helm of Awe, which is one of the most mysterious and powerful symbols of Norse mythology. This symbol is based on a repetition of the Norse "Z" rune "Algiz" which represents protection and prevailing over one's enemies. The symbol is painted here in light grey over a dark brown background. Stainless steel studs line the border of the shield, and dual leather straps are used to secure the arm along the back—one going over the forearm and one intended to be gripped or held. The shield is made out of a 1/2 inch thick smooth composite wood which is in many ways stronger than plywood. The front of the shield has also been applied with several coats of topcoat/varnish to protect it through the years. It measures about 25 inches in diameter—more than enough to cover your arm way past the elbow. Whether for the wall or the battlefield, this shield is well balanced and ready to serve.KEY FEATURES- "Helm of Awe" design.- Symbolizes
