Shumard Oak Shumard oaks are one of the most highly recommended plantings by land managers and biologists when planting oaks for wildlife. They produce heavy crops of large acorns and have lengthy drop times. Individual trees vary in drop time ranging from October through February. This means if you plant a stand of Shumards your providing a food source that will provide attraction and nutrition for nearly half the year! Not many other mast producing trees can say that. Shumards also produce good timber value as well growing fast, tall, and straight. Grows fast and easily, adapts
