Radish- (watermelon radish) Mantanghong Beauty Heart Raphanus sativus (hybrid) This "beauty heart" variety of Chinese radish is the most commonly grown in China's middle and northern regions. Watermelon radish is another name for it. This globe-shaped variety has a green shoulder and dark pink flesh. They're the best radishes to carve into flower shapes as garnish because of their color. It has a light, sweet taste and a crisp texture. Eating raw is a healthy choice. Simply thinly slice and serve with a squeeze of fresh lime and a pinch of salt and pepper, or sugar. They are also good for pickling.
