The blade is meticulously hammered into shape in one solid piece with the full tang extending into the handle. The steel is hardened with heat treatment and oil quenching. Once the blade is formed, it is hand sharpened and polished to a mirror finish. The blade is made from 1095 High Carbon Steel with a long Hi (blood groove) on each side. This allows for a lighter blade and audible feedback when swung. It also balances the sword to achieve optimal performance. The blade is full tang and fixed into the tsuka (handle) with copper rivets. The saya (sheath) is hard wood, the ito (handle wrap) is nylon and the tsuba (hand guard) is iron.
