Damask Rose Enfleurage is a solid perfume made by the simple but labor intensive process of cold enfleurage during its brief flowering season. The only ingredients are fresh, highly fragrant damask rose flowers grown in my organic garden, avocado butter, and very raw beeswax. It is organic, and handmade. The scent is exquisite, delicate, and true to Rosa damascena: fruity and ostentatious with a powdery cocoa back note not present in absolutes from the same species. The top notes are blackberry jam and raspberry pie, the middle a ripe goblet of California Cabernet Sauvignon, and the base notes a warm dusting of cacao. Although considered an Old Rose, the damask is no longer found growing in the wild. A hybrid of Rosa moschata (musk rose) and Rosa gallica (Gallic rose), Rosa damascena has various theorized origins. Its name derives from the city of Damascus, Syria, where it is still widely cultivated and harvested during its brief flowering season of 20-40 days annually. In one version
