Pfaltz, Germany— A light and bright, dry white made from Sauvignac & Calades, two of the new generation of PIWI grapes, hybrid varieties being propagated in Germany for climate and disease resistance. Crisp apple right out of the fridge, lemon zest, nettles, mineral water on the palate. Light-bodied and zippy, an ideal aperitif or accompaniment to seafood / fried foods. Vinified in concrete with 5 days of skin contact for structure. Organic / Biodynamic. Low S02.   Weingut Jürgen Leiner is located in Ilbesheim in the southern Pfalz, at the edge of the Pfalzerwald (Pfalz forest) and about thirty minutes’ drive north of the Alsatian border. They own 16.5 hectares and produce about 120,000 bottles of Riesling, Pinot Noir, and a few other varieties. They are Demeter certified biodynamic and members of Slow Food.
