Redwood Tree Laser Cut

Solid California redwood heartwood, salvaged from construction materials, milled by hand in small batches to thin sheets, and laser cut. Grain patterns, color, and tone will vary, and no two are quite exactly alike.  Based on my original watercolor art, quick little sketches of trees inspired by my photographs that I make as a way to relax. By digitally tracing my art and adapting it for laser cutting, I can turn my 2D art into a tangible piece that can be shared and displayed. These solid wood laser cut trees are a meeting of timeless natural materials, a careful human touch of craftsmanship, wood knowledge, and the precision capabilities of modern technology.  Laser cutting highly detailed and interlocking parts requires precise tolerances and specifications in material.
