2020 Calvari Organic Syrah I.G.T.

Heat-worshipping Syrah is typically a rich and meaty red with bold tannins and acidity, and it’s an up-and-coming star on the Italian island of Sicily. Calvari is your perfect introduction, especially if you love your reds on the BIG side. The man behind the label? That would be fourth-generation winemaker Piergiorgio Castellani, whose quality obsession is reflected in just about everything he does. While his family have been crafting wines in Tuscany since 1903, Piergiorgio is also an innovator and has been experimenting (with delicious results) down south on the island of Sicily. His Calvari is a smoky and full-bodied favorite, with dense black fruit edged by touches of wild herbs, black pepper, and cinnamon.
