Paul Hobbs Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2021
Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 Paul Hobbs 93 pts Wine AdvocateHarvested between September 24 and October 1, the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Coombsville is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon matured in 71% new French oak. It features scents of black cherries, cassis, baked pastry dough and cinnamon on the nose, while the full-bodied palate is almost creamy-lush in texture, finishing long, and velvety.Winemaker Paul Hobbs has a long history producing Napa Valley wines, although his winery is over the mountains near Sebastopol, in Sonoma County. His long relationship with Andy Beckstoffer means he's allocated some of the best blocks from Beckstoffer's historic vineyards. Although he didn't bottle wine from To Kalon fruit in 2020, he got fruit in from Dr. Crane and Las Piedras prior to the Glass Fire erupting on September 27. 93 pts VinousDrinking Window 2023 - 2028The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon (Coombsville) is a dark, potent wine that shows the drought and heat of the year in its flavor profile and overall intensity. Black cherry, plum, mocha, espresso and dark spice flesh out in this potent, heady Cabernet Sauvignon. Graphite, dried herbs and bittersweet chocolate linger on the deep, potent finish lifted by attractive floral top notes. - By Antonio Galloni on October 2022 93 pts Wine SpectatorRipe and vivid, revealing a long beam of açaí, blueberry and blackberry puree flavors that are polished in feel, with subtle cast iron and savory accents through the finish. A light hand with the toast allows the fruit to sing in this version. Drink now through 2035.
