Venica & Venica Schiopettino 2019
93 pts Wine AdvocateHere is a popular grape variety cherished by locals that meets the demands of international contemporary dining that favors lighter dishes and more vegetables. The Venica 2019 Friuli Colli Orientali Schioppettino has a bright bouquet with a characteristic mix of redcurrant and white pepper. The aromas are not too intense, all said and done, although those peppery notes do persist for a long time, despite the wine's lean texture. Too bad only 1,100 bottles were created. This wine is a lot of fun to drink.Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes were selected and destemmed, then macerated for about 10 days. Subsequently, the wine was aged for approximately six months. After this period, to complete the maturation process, our Schioppettino was bottled for around 4 years. This slow sedimentation work at a constant temperature allowed the expression of this grape variety's characteristics to shine, bringing out distinct and harmonious scents and aromas. 13% abv.
