This is one of the most serious and complex Gruner Veltliners Burgenland has to offer. The Ungerberg hillside, comprised of sandy limestone soils, sits at 250 foot elevation with wonderful orientation. Hannes tends the 45 year old Gruner Veltliner vines organically, crafting a wine that is powerful and smooth, yet elegant and mineral, with notes of ripe pear and apple, fine nuts and herbs. The combination of round and polished phenolic notes and a vibrant and lively spine make this Gruner Veltliner irresistible. Just a few miles west of the great shallow lake called the Neusiedlersee (literally, the new settler lake) is the town of St. Margarethen and the winery Rosi Schuster.
