Winemaker Notes Just 7 miles north of San Pablo Bay, Steltzner Vineyard is 27 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon with plantings dating back to 1976. The palisades of Stag’s Leap District retain and reflect morning and afternoon sunlight and the proximity to the Bay pulls the marine layer over the vines, creating cooler than average evenings. The result is ideal for late ripening varietals—producing wines of depth, color, and balanced acidity. The land is farmed by Jim Barbour using his renowned hand-farming methods.
