The Wild Hunt, also known as The Furious Host, is a folklore tale from different European countries, but is most associated with those of Germanic origins. The Wild Hunt consists of a troupe of ghostly warriors led by none other than Odin himself, a god of many facets, but also a god of death. Around the time of Yule, the host rides the winter storms as an explosion of energy renews the land.  Seeing the Wild Hunt appear bade a foreboding & ominous fate. It was seen as a herald of catastrophe such as war, plague, or perhaps death to those who were unfortunate enough to witness it. Yet the Wild Hunt is more than a ghastly tale. It is symbolic of being called back to the wild, of throwing civilization aside, to feel fire in the blood, throwing your mundane cares and inner conflicts away as the song of the wolf calls to the hunter, to run naked with fangs bare and embrace the wild in your heart.
