Lilith is a powerful ally for equality and empowerment. She holds the rod and ring of Sumerian royalty. Lions and owls symbolize her power and wisdom. Monotheists called Lilith a demon, most likely due to her assertive behavior at a time when male dominance was relatively new. A sensual goddess, she gathered men into the temple for sexual rituals, but refused to assume the missionary position. Lilith was considered powerful in many parts of the ancient world Some scholars name this image as Ishtar or Erishkegal. [reproduced after the image in the Coville Collection, c. 2300 BCE.] 3" cold cast bronze statue.
