essent Clock

Winner of the prestigious 2025 iF Design Award, essent was created by designer Daisuke Kitagawa through a fundamental exploration of the functionality and materials of wall clocks. essent adopts the duodecimal system for hours and the 60-decimal system for minutes and seconds.  The timepiece uses two types of numbers and two different colors to indicate clear distinctions. The hour hand and numerals are presented from 1 to 12 for hours, alongside the minute and second hands and numerals from 0 to 55. Linking the colors enhances intuitive time recognition through design, and its original typeface has a clean appearance that increases both legibility and the sense of modern elegance.
