The yarn is an 80% Fine Superwash Merino Wool/20% Baby Alpaca blend that's perfect for hats, scarves, sweaters, blankets, and shawls. The yarn works up in a variegated pattern. There is said to be several species of Woodpeckers here in Ohio, and I remember the distinct pecking sound I would hear coming through my bedroom window growing up in my childhood home.  I dyed up this colorway in tribute to those winged noisemakers that interrupted many naptimes for me. There’s a dark gray and black color throughout the yarn, representing their feathers and then red, which represents the red crown that Woodpeckers have.
