Instructor Lauren Brazeal Garza is an essayist and author of four books, most notably her memoir-in-verse, Gutter (YesYes Books, 2018), which chronicles her homelessness as a teenager. She earned her MFA in writing from Bennington College and her Ph.D. in Literature, focusing on testimonio and narratives from marginalized voices from the University of Texas at Dallas, where she teaches literature and creative writing.
