Glass Experience! Murrine Blown Glass Paperweight - August 18
Sunday, August 18th9:00 am - 2:00 pmInstructor: Eli Zilke Come work with one of our talented glassblowing instructors to create a murrine glass paperweight! Murrine are colored patterns or images made in a glass cane that are revealed when the cane is cut into thin cross-sections. Murrine can be made in infinite designs when scattered on a marver (steel table) and then picked up on the surface of a partially-blown glass bubble. Further blowing, heating, and shaping on the marver will incorporate the murrine completely into the bubble, creating a random arrangement of murrine in your own glass paperweight. This 30 minute intensive workshop will guide students through picking their colors, gathering from the furnace, incorporating their murrine, and blowing glass to create your personal glass paperweight. This glass experience is excellent for beginners and will provide students with an understanding of introductory glassblowing techniques. 30 minute time slots by appointment. Please
