Main Sequence Ring

Just average, everyday stars, living their best lives, burning hydrogen into helium, glowing like they just had a great first date, and optimistic about the next 10 billion years... If you plot the temperature (color) of a population of stars against their brightness (luminosity) you find that most stars lie along a swoopy structure that is called the "main sequence". They live on it until they die big flamboyant deaths (if they're massive enough to live fast and die young) or fade away into a barely glowing coal if they're barely bigger than Jupiter. Simple normal stars on your fingers.
