Yellow Bird/I'm Alone
Chatham in March "Sometimes serendipity plays an important role in my photography. One day in March of 2005 I was driving home at dusk on Shore Road when I passed the fish pier and noticed spots of color in my peripheral vision. Looking eastward I saw two brightly painted fishing boats moored in the harbor near North Beach. The sky above the outer beach glowed with a watercolor wash of muted hues of the spectrum. Above the blue shadow of the earth projected on the horizon was a pink band, known as the “Belt of Venus” which is caused by backscattering of reddened light from the setting sun. I set up my tripod on the fish pier deck and used a telephoto lens to isolate the boats beneath this subtle but extraordinary atmospheric phenomenon." - Jon Vaughan, Photographer Fine Art Photograph by Jon Vaughan, dry mounted on acid-free foam board, custom cut and hinged on an acid-free matte.
