Saturn Shawl by Sarah Chapman
Stripes of semi-solid Sami remind us of Saturn's rings against a background of multicolor Marla. The shawl is an asymmetrical triangle worked from one long point to the opposite short side, all in trusty garter stitch. Marla is made from 2 strands of lighter-weight yarn that have been dyed separately and then plied together. When worked, Marla creates a marled fabric with uniquely distributed colors, Sami, the semi-solid DK-weight sister to Marla, has a palette of 21 coordinating colors! Marla is hand dyed by women artisans in Manos cooperatives in Uruguay's countryside & is a Fair Trade yarn. Kit includes FREE pattern (pdf & printed pattern) and selected yarn as described below.
