Darjeeling
The Champagne of Teas There is a reason this is the most famous tea in the world. Grown on the steep slopes of the Himalayas, our organic Darjeeling is a "Second Flush" harvest. The tea bushes here struggle against the high altitude and thin air, concentrating their flavor into a leaf that is incredibly complex, aromatic, and prized by collectors. Why It Works Darjeeling is famous for its unique "Muscatel" character, a distinct flavor note reminiscent of muscat grapes and dried apricots. Unlike the heavy malt of an Assam, this tea is light, crisp, and floral. It has a natural astringency (dryness) that cleanses the palate, making it feel more like a fine white wine than a heavy morning brew. The Afternoon Ritual Drink it pure. This tea is too delicate for milk. We recommend brewing it with slightly cooler water (200°F) to preserve the top notes. Serve it in your best china during a quiet afternoon moment. It is a tea that demands, and rewards, your full attention.
