Antique 20th century Main Gauche or left hand sword. Used as a parrying sword this rapier style small sword was used for close quarter combat by swordsmen from the 17th century onwards with the larger more prominent sword being carried in the right hand. Very difficult to date as these were made from the same design for several hundred years but from the construction it most likely dates to the late 19th or early 20th century and is European in origin with its typical trefoil blade and sail style hand guard. Although unmarked this is sturdily constructed and is still a formidable weapon. A great antique sword to add to your military collection or as a suitable wall hanger in any Spanish style property.
