Antique William IV Rosewood & MOP Table Cabinet

Antique early Victorian rosewood and mother of pearl ladies travel compendium. Dating to the early 1830's period this sarcophagus topped compendium was used by a wealthy lady whilst traveling. This complex box opens up to reveal 4 compartments which encompass a lady"s needs when traveling. The top layer is sectioned out for sewing with 6 thread areas (complete with thread on bone spools) and 4 covered box sections all lined in silk. The second silk lined pull out drawer is open for miscellaneous. The third drawer is set out for a ladys jewelry with sections for necklaces, bracelets and rings established. The fourth drawer completely pulls out to reveal a small writing slope complete with its storage unit underneath, pen compartment and two inkwells on either side. The face of each drawer is decorated with mother of pearl inlay in the neo classical style of the time. The complete compendium is lifted via the two wooden turned handles on the side.
