1940 Heavy Bronze Plaque for the Works Projects Administration

Original WPA bronze plaque dating to 1940. These heavy cast bronze plaques were originally placed as markers by the Works Projects Administration as part of the New Deal as set forth by the Roosevelt Administration to provide relief during the depression. Originally called the Works Progress Administration it was renamed in 1939 and finally disbanded in 1943. This vintage sign was purchased from the estate of a scrap merchant in Los Angeles recently. This heavy bronze plaque is a reminder of how government intervention during economic crisis focused on creating jobs and infrastructure by the people for the people. A great addition to your bronze plaques collection or WPA collection. MEASUREMENTS Vintage sign measures 11.75“ wide by 17.75“ long and weighs almost 16lbs.
