Brilliant orange with a silky sheen and slight cloudiness. The 2019 MFØ from Domaine Weinbach benefits immensely from timely aeration, so off into the decanter, upside down. Then it fans out its broad spectrum of aromas like a shimmering peacock's wheel. The naturally forward Gewürztraminer takes the lead without undercutting the Pinot Gris. The floral aspects go in the direction of cinnamon blossom, with the obligatory rose taking place more dried in the background. Small sour plums, orange peel and kumquats follow, all of this spicily grounded by fragrant bass of tobacco and mace. Roasted and salted hazelnuts, glazed yeast plait and a handful of dried fruit like apple rings and quince bread let the lips quickly purse towards the edge of the glass.
