Tasted at Bordeaux Index’s Clos des Goisses dinner. Disgorged September 2005, this ’96 is adorned with a sublime; minerally nose with flint and chalk dust, a bouquet that really transports you momentarily to the vineyard where it was born. With time: hints of hazelnut and dandelion. The palate has a soft, understated entry, quite creamy in texture with green apple, kiwi, a touch of pear and lime, yet it is the mineral heart of the ’96 that sticks on the memory. Refined and effortless on the finish. Even better than previous bottles that I have encountered. Brilliant. Drink now-2020+
