Once the pieces are plated, a protective finish is added, and with proper care should maintain the finish for years. Gold-filled pieces - Merewif uses gold filled chain on certain delicate necklace styles. Gold filled jewelry is composed of a number of layers wherein a gold alloy is permanently bonded to the brass core with both heat and pressure.
