The influx of transplants, or carpet baggers, as they’ve been called, means yet another transition for the south. Old South vs. New South. Deep reflection always precedes a paradigm shift. I wonder if the south will attempt to secede from the rest of the states. Passport requirements and immigration paperwork required for relocation, along with only allowing southern chartered corporations to operate with its borders, would ensure we wouldn’t suffer the same fate as other “it” cities and states. Rising crime rates, tent cities, diminishing housing affordability and stagnant wages created the crises other states are currently experiencing. Whether due to greed or ignorance, actions or lack thereof, the mess is spreading like wildfire.
