Crater Lake Oregon

Crater Lake National Park, established in 1902 in the Cascade Mountains of southern Oregon, was formed nearly 7,700 years ago when the volcanic peak of Mount Mazama collapsed following a catastrophic eruption, creating a caldera that slowly filled with rain and snowmelt to become the deepest lake in the United States at 1,943 feet. The water is of legendary clarity and an almost impossibly vivid blue — a color so pure and intense it seems to belong to another world.
