  Description:  During Colonial times and later, often many American homes were known to prepare meals over a wood fire. Kitchen tools - utensils similar to this one were used for a variety of needs were often seen hanging above the hearth on a timber or nearby the fire when not in use. This hammered, wrought iron 2-pronged flesh fork measures 19 3/4" inches long with a twisted handle above and below a flattened section in the center.  What makes this special is the crafted heart shape finial at the top of the handle.  It is clear the creativity and craftsmanship put into this early blacksmith work of art.
